Tri-Cities RACES participated in the county-wide emergency communications exercise on October 3rd. The net ran smoothly and we logged good participation from across the cities.
We ran a local 2 meter net from our net control station, checking in members in Dana Point, San Clemente, and San Juan Capistrano. The local net provided a clear picture of check-in times, message handling, and relay paths within the tri-cities area.
We also participated in the regional nets conducted on 2 meters and 60 meters. Traffic passed cleanly on both bands, and coordination with county net control was straightforward.
Overall the exercise validated our current procedures and equipment. 73, Bill Kreutinger, KM6SLF Chief Radio Officer / Technical Director, Tri-Cities RACES
